Freezing. I think that was the term on everyone’s lips this morning as they streamed into work. It wasn’t actually as cold as it has been in the past few weeks, but icy sharp snow just made it seem a few degrees below what the temperature really was. Freezing.

Today was the first time I actually looked out the window and thought that it would be REALLY nice if it was spring already! I’m looking forward to planning my garden, and adding some beds along the back fence. This area is typically just overrun with creeping charlie -ugh – just the thought makes me shudder. It’s the bane of my existence in the “growing months”, for no matter how many times I pull it up, cut it up, chop it up, dig it up … it just comes back. Now, if we could get a neighborly effort going with the people surrounding my yard, where they would ALL pull up their creeping charlie, then we may stand a chance.

It's a messed up world

….well, a messed up blog, really. Not the whole world, just my little cybercorner!

The story is this … I moved my webhost to bluehost.com as it has a Cpanel, which I like. So the purpose of revamping my website was so that I didn’t have to have so many sites, blogs, social networking sites to catch up with. I hoped I could have it all in one place. I moved this wordpress blog over to snootyvixen.com and then I realized that if I wanted to update my blog, I had to do it through my Cpanel, and not through wordpress. It’s a bit of a hassle, bu it’ll all workout fine. And one day, I’ll be able to get my blog linked to my front page.

Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking at the YWCA Circle of Women. I had no idea there were going to be so many women there! I thought I was going to fly under the radar, but when I walked in and saw the room set up for about 300 people, I almost had second thoughts about speaking! I did have second thoughts first thing in the morning, because I woke up with a sore throat and no voice, but I sucked on throat lozenges all morning and was alble to make my scheduled appearance! There were three of us speaking, representing three “branches” of the YWCA – childcare, Stepping Stones (services for victims of sexual assault), and Senior Services. By luck of the draw, I went first, and I’m sure that I saw every single woman I know in McLean County in that room! Iwasn’t nervous until I realized just how many people I knew who were attending. I was nervous. I think I spoke too fast, but every time I tried to slow down, it was like a snowball gathering momentum, I just couldn’t slow down enough to catch my breath properly. But they said I did fine, so I’m happy

Today, we were supposed to go to Chicago … well, Naperville … to hit Trader Joe’s, but the weather was apparently frightful up by Chicago, so we were advised against going. There was about 6-8″ of snow forecast. We stayed home, cleaned, and then took in the 4pm showing of “Coraline”. It was a fun little movie with a storyline that really came down to something like “be thankful for what you’ve got”. And we are

These pics are all posted automatically using PixelPipe, through Picasa. Basically, any time I upload pics to my Picasa album, they also upload to my blog and my Facebook page (possibly my MySpace page too, but definitely not my Twitter account! LOL!)

Usually, I forget to come back to the blog and label the pics. I’m trying to change that! This time I do notice that the pics are all outu of order, but we are big girls now, and we can deal with a bit of disorganization, right? Right!

So, this first pic is the Recollections Room at the Children’s Discovery Museum in Normal. They play some great music – Soukous, reggae, really anything “new world-ish”, the children dance to the music, and their reflections make pretty patterns on the screen. It took me a while to get the right camera settings (don’t talk to me about shutter speed and apertures. I just don’t get it!), but the results are wonderful!
