So, I didn’t get half the stuff done today that I meant to do. I still have a filing tote sitting beside me and a bunch of papers on my desk. But you know what? They can wait. I’m sick, and filing just isn’t anywhere near the top of my list of priorities right now.

I spent a good deal of today working on www.snootyvixen.com – I fixed up the whole site, then in one errant keystroke I deleted the whole website module and all the good work I had done. So, I started over. You know, maybe that first version just wasn’t meant to be and the second version was better.

I do like my site header image though. Here it is:

I did clean my kitchen today, and I have two loaves of bread baking (if you call processing in the bread machine “baking” – it’s making some awful clanging noises!) At least it’ll be done mixing soon and the clanging will be over

The girls are reading, and awaiting their phone call from their dad in about 5 or 10 minutes time. Today I’ll be asking him to sign the papers I need for the girls to get their passports so we can visit my brother, Simon, in the Dominican Republic. I don’t know how that’s going to go … we’ll see.

KJ and Vikki

The girl on the left is KJ. She put more fear into more people on VP than anyone I know! VP is (was?) Virtual Places – an MSN chat room with avatars and sounds … if you were clever enough, you could make a whole music video play! Still, KJ held court over the African American room. It was very strange to meet her in person, she was totally different to the KJ I had imagined! She came to stay with me when I had a “leaving party” before I left Australia for the States, and boy did we have a riot!

So, now I’m sneezing way too much. I think I’m going to go to bed

So, I think I’m going to go make myself a cup of tea with some lemon in it. I wish I could stand the taste of honey. Maybe agave nectar will work as well?

It's a messed up world

….well, a messed up blog, really. Not the whole world, just my little cybercorner!

The story is this … I moved my webhost to bluehost.com as it has a Cpanel, which I like. So the purpose of revamping my website was so that I didn’t have to have so many sites, blogs, social networking sites to catch up with. I hoped I could have it all in one place. I moved this wordpress blog over to snootyvixen.com and then I realized that if I wanted to update my blog, I had to do it through my Cpanel, and not through wordpress. It’s a bit of a hassle, bu it’ll all workout fine. And one day, I’ll be able to get my blog linked to my front page.

Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking at the YWCA Circle of Women. I had no idea there were going to be so many women there! I thought I was going to fly under the radar, but when I walked in and saw the room set up for about 300 people, I almost had second thoughts about speaking! I did have second thoughts first thing in the morning, because I woke up with a sore throat and no voice, but I sucked on throat lozenges all morning and was alble to make my scheduled appearance! There were three of us speaking, representing three “branches” of the YWCA – childcare, Stepping Stones (services for victims of sexual assault), and Senior Services. By luck of the draw, I went first, and I’m sure that I saw every single woman I know in McLean County in that room! Iwasn’t nervous until I realized just how many people I knew who were attending. I was nervous. I think I spoke too fast, but every time I tried to slow down, it was like a snowball gathering momentum, I just couldn’t slow down enough to catch my breath properly. But they said I did fine, so I’m happy

Today, we were supposed to go to Chicago … well, Naperville … to hit Trader Joe’s, but the weather was apparently frightful up by Chicago, so we were advised against going. There was about 6-8″ of snow forecast. We stayed home, cleaned, and then took in the 4pm showing of “Coraline”. It was a fun little movie with a storyline that really came down to something like “be thankful for what you’ve got”. And we are
